The YouTube culture has been flourishing all over the globe ever since it’s launch, back in 2005. Today we know that India is one of the fastest growing markets for Google-owned YouTube and the company had previously announced that they plan on doubling their user base in the country to 400 million very soon. The platform’s growth is fuelled by none other than the creative bunch of Indian content creators who have managed to maintain a steady fan base by focusing on varied topics that appeal to them.
On September 13th, 2018, two of the most prominent Indian YouTubers that is “BB Ki Vines” and “Amit Bhadana” clashed against each other on the country’s very first individual creator channel race to 10 million subscribers. Both their fan bases were super hyped to get their favorite creator ahead and eventually, Bhuvan Bam of BB Ki Vines won the race to create history. But soon after that Amit Bhadana’s channel subscriber numbers also matched up and hit 10 million subscribers. It was a close call and now they both fall under India’s 10 million subscribers clan in the individual creator category.
However, the first channel in any category to hit 10 million subscribers from India was T-Series. This happened two years ago and currently, T-Series with 63.2 million subscribers is in the race to become the world’s highest subscribed channel – competing against PewDiePie with 66.4 million subscribers at present.
About BB Ki Vines:
He started his Internet career with a sarcastic video of a news reporter who asked a woman insensitive questions regarding the death of her son due to the Kashmir floods, which got about 15,000 views on Facebook. However, his first video went viral in Pakistan (not India, surprisingly), inspiring Bam to create his own YouTube Channel in June 2015. His popularity kept on rising exponentially over years, leading to this day when he boasts more than 10 million subscribers.
The unique selling point of his channel content is the fact that he shoots all his comedy videos on mobile himself using the front camera. He also edits them himself. He has managed to create about 20 different characters (played by himself) with unique personality traits that feature in his comedy videos. He likes to keep his content raw and relatable when it comes to comedy but when you look at his music content, he ensures that they are well produced giving it a stark difference from his other content.
About Amit Bhadana:
With all the relatable content that he was making on his channel, he soon won over everyone’s heart and now has rightly got himself in the 10 million subscriber clan of Indian individual creators alongside BB Ki Vines. On his channel description, he simply mentions that he is “trying to make people smile” and so he does.
Similar to Bhuvan, he also started posting videos first on Facebook instead of YouTube. He started his online career in 2015 by uploading a reply video to Adele’s song “Hello” to his Facebook profile. After a positive response from viewers, he made a dubbing video on Eminem that went viral.
