Who is Casey Neistat?

Casey Owen Neistat is an American YouTuber, vlogger, producer, director and co-founder of the social media company, ‘Beme’ which he recently sold to CNN. Casey lives in New York City and used to make daily vlogs which led to a huge growth of his channel. Today his channel has more than 9.7 million subscribers.

Now, he makes videos occasionally with his new project called ‘368’. By not uploading daily, it gives him more time to edit and perfect his videos. Many people love the way he vlogs or films, his unique style of filming the whole scene rather than just the subject and he is often the subject of trending topics on both the internet and television.

What is unique about Casey Neistat’s vlogging style?

When you look at Casey Neistat’s vlogging style, you’ll find two major setups that he essentially uses for his vlogs. One is used for planned segments while the other one is for spontaneous ideas which happen on-the-go.

For planned segments, Casey uses a DSLR with a directional microphone mounted on top and a mid-sized tripod with bendable legs. It allows him some mobility because it is all one piece that he can carry around his home or office.

Casey does not just like to record at home or at his office, though. He likes to vlog wherever and whenever ideas strike him or something interesting happens. Casey’s second setup for spontaneous vlogging is a digital camera in a case on his belt and it goes everywhere with him.

Another big element that differentiates Casey’s vlogs from other is the distinct format of starting and ending his vlogs. He starts every vlog with a timelapse sequence and ends the vlogs on an abrupt note.

With the opening time-lapse sequence, Casey is able to give his viewers and overall theme of what the vlog is going to be about and is very attention-grabbing in nature. With abrupt vlog ends, Casey ensures that he leaves the audience wanting for more.

Casey’s vlogging style is unique not only because of his video treatments, camera equipment, and consistent formats but it is a lot about what kind of content he is showcasing to his loyal fan base. He ensures that he is depicting his daily lifestyle in its true essence where he is seen carrying out simple activities of the day.

Casey has an eye for detail and every shot is being treated with utmost importance. But that doesn’t mean that he always strives for perfection. In his vlogs, he is often seen to mess things up and he doesn’t try to control that – he keeps it real. His ultimate aim is to share great stories with his unique style of filmmaking.
