Mary reports:

Lauren and I took pumpkins 🎃 to the Kitten Kabana the other day to see what they would do! Lauren captured 360 footage will will come out soon. In the meantime, here are a few cuteness pictures! 🐾❤️🐾

Devin:

Great day today! We had a good number of volunteers come out today to get feeding, cleaning, and projects done!

The main project for today was working on Gabby's enclosure. The side closest to Keisha was completed thanks to Aleesa, Bridget, Tanya, Fred, and Alyssa.

Food-prep was completed after lunch thanks to Dylan and Tanya.

Honey was able to do the cicle cats which made them all very happy.

There was lots of operant and enrichment done today, making lots of happy cats and volunteers.

We had a work crew working on the roof in the new hospital. Elle and Mike took turns watching them.

Kathryn and I made a new tunnel that will hopefully help us catch Reise eventually. She will be in the hospital cage until her cut is healed once we get her.

There are a few little plants in pots in front of Hoovers enclosure where the new barricade is. Lets make sure we give them water everyday.

Keisha ate very well today!

That's all for today~ -Devin

  • Reise Cougar had a scratch stitched up by Dr. Justin today. We had some Internet issues trying to bring it to you LIVE, but here is Dr. Justin Boorstein’s summary. Reise Cougar is over 23 which is like you being over 130. She can’t groom herself, so we had to shave her. Because she’s so old, she’s on pain meds. She probably stumbled, going through a cage door, and cut herself, even though several cats have lived there and no one has ever cut themselves. (We filed down the door edges afterward, to be sure, but the sharpness wasn’t even visible to the eye; that’s how small it was) In falling and scraping at the same time, even though the initial cut was very small and superficial, the bruising probably kept it from healing, so today he cut away the dead skin to stitch up living tissue for a better bond. There was no infection, because she was already on antibiotics. She will be kept off the dirt for 10 days to let it heal. Find out more at BigCatRescue.org/Reise

  • Last year, thanks to 13 fantastic Rescuers (a mix of staff and volunteers) we spoke to nearly 2,000 students at 25 schools! This is sort of a big deal, folks! Big Cat Rescue speakers are highly sought after by GATI organizers, but we can only commit to speaking at schools if we have volunteers to present! GATI is a full day event, with most schools looking for speakers between 8 am - 3 pm. Because we receive so many requests, we only commit to being at each school for one to two hours. GATI is our opportunity to introduce kids to Big Cat Rescue's work, inform them about the issues, and most importantly - empower them to be part of the solution! I'm still looking for volunteers to help out on Wed 11/14 & Thu 11/15. - Jennifer Leon

Another great day today with lots of volunteers coming out to clean feed and help with projects. It was nice to see some faces that dont usually come on mondays 🙂
Mike E painted the barricade by hoover, it looks great.
Candy and Fred got operant and enrichment sign offs.
Cindy made sure all the cats got their afternoon sicles.
Mary J, Candy, Steph C and some of the interns worked on sundaris cage throughout the day.
Cameron and keisha ate ok today. Both are liking pork and turkey breast.
We have no more pork, kathryn is aware, so whatever we have needs to be used wisely for the pickys.
Andre ate like a champ today, for me this morning, kathryn for the dodo and then MC at meds time.
We sent out 3 tours at 3pm so had lots of happy guests 🙂 - Lauren Buckingham
