Chances are you have heard of KETO - it’s all the rage and has been for a while now. I’ve personally tried this way of eating and I can say that for me, it was great for a while, but I found it a bit challenging to stick to. A ketogenic diet is a diet is mostly healthy fats (80%), a little protein (15%), and minimal carbs (often under 50 grams per day). But something that I found incredibly interesting in my research - and is the reason I am making this video for you today - is how a low-carb diet may actually negatively impact the health of our guts! Why? This may be because the keto diet tends to be low in fiber, which provides those prebiotics to your gut. Same goes for the lack of healthy carbs, which also supply prebiotics - the food that feeds your powerful gut! The truth is, the right kind of carbs can actually provide some solid health benefits - the problem lies in that our society tends to over-consume SIMPLE carbs - sugar, processed food, chips, crackers, cakes and cookies - which have been shown to lead to inflammation, fatigue, even disease. Bottom line - you’ve gotta find a diet that works for you and moves you towards your goals. Talk to your doc for more info and to see if it’s a good fit for your personal goals.
